A District Manager is both a team member and a team leader. As a team member, he is part of the management team and at the same time, leads his own team to ensure the achievement of goals. Thru the District Manager and his team, the organizational goals and objectives are carried out. His effectiveness in the implementation of strategies will determine the success or failure of the unit assigned to him.
The following are the obligations of a District Manager to the Management Team:
- He provides the direction to his team
- He coordinates with other District Managers, his superiors and other departments
- He is in full control of the operations within the district's area of responsibility thru regular monitoring of performance
- He informs each Medical Representative of his team of company events, plans, programs, changes in policies, etc.
- He enforces and clarifies policies, procedures and programs
- He sets standards of performance and behavior within the team based on the established guidelines
- He disciplines members of his team who violate the policies
- He leads by good example; a positive role model
- A problem solver within his level of authority and are of competence
- He gives regular and timely feedback to his team and superiors
- He provides marketing intelligence gathered from his area of responsibility
- He recommends programs that would greatly improve the performance of the company
- He manages the change process
